ah, la luna...

there is just something about the cool gentle light of the full moon that inspires in me the deep desire to be somewhere "out there" - far away from the yellow glow of the city. full moon also brings the advantage of extreme tides when you're at the coast. i remember once feeling the sweat and exhaustion drain away as i saw the full moon rise in the east while the sun set in the west - spanned across a vast open bush plain in northern namibia. its a sight i would definitely like to experience more often and so i hereby resolve to get my fat ass out there to wide open places where i can savour and celebrate the full moon.

outing one: kubu island in the makgadikgadi salt pans of botswana. imagine: a full moon, trippy baobabs, a rocky outcrop and 360° of flat horizon on a crystal clear winter evening. yup, its a bit chilly now, but at least the pans will be dry.
the next full moon: Sun, Jun 11, 2006, 20:03 (+0200) in 20 days. something to howl at...
